The Commemoration of the 80th
Anniversary of Victory Over Japan Day
On 15th August 2025, HPower International was proud to deliver the full event infrastructure for VJ Day 80 at the National Memorial Arboretum on behalf of the Royal British Legion.
The commemorations welcomed 33 veterans, Their Majesties The King and Queen in the Royal Box, nearly 400 members of the Armed Forces and more than 1,000 invited guests. Thousands more members of the public watched the event from a separate viewing area elsewhere at the Arboretum.
Working in partnership with a carefully selected group of contractors, HPower managed the complete build in just one week – despite challenging amber heatwave conditions – with derig completed within two days.
Highlights of our delivery included:
A Royal Box platform to accommodate 100 VIPs
A bespoke stage designed for the service and live performances
A backstage village for almost 400 military personnel and performers
Public viewing areas with seating for 1,000+ visitors
Liaison between event delivery and the BBC broadcast team to integrate sound and visuals seamlessly
Large screens positioned across the site to ensure every guest had a clear view
Months of meticulous planning culminated in a one-hour commemorative service that created lasting memories for all who attended. HPower International Ltd is the event delivery partner for Royal British Legion.
