Operation London Bridge – Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II’s Funeral Arrangements in Windsor

HPower Group was appointed by The Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead in 2018, as the event delivery partner for logistics for Operation Forth and London Bridge – the operational names given to funeral arrangements for HRH the Late Duke of Edinburgh and Her Late Majesty Queen Elizabeth II respectively.  HPower were a key stakeholder in delivery of the events in Windsor.

HPower are proud to have recently delivered the Windsor end of London Bridge as a part of the multi-agency response working as a team with partners from RBWM, Military, Emergency Response, Crown Estate and UK Government.

Given the nature of the event, intensive planning was required, particularly in securing commitment from the supply chain to mobilise and deliver at very short notice.  HPower managed the contracts with the suppliers for all stewarding and infrastructure and ensured that the contracts included mobilisation stipulations.  HPower were part of the multi-agency response working as a team with partners from RBWM, Military, Emergency Response, Crown Estate and UK Government.

HPower were responsible for key areas for the event including The Long Walk – the main public viewing area where infrastructure was installed to support over 100,000 visitors, Home Park Public –  which housed a steward’s campsite, an additional viewing area with big screens for more than 50,000 public and a queuing system for public returning on trains from Windsor and Eton Riverside Station. And finally HPower was responsible for all of the stewarding across Windsor from Old Windsor to the town to the main viewing site.

The numbers on this job were immense, over 2,500 day stewards were present and over 700 night stewards.  More than 800 temporary toilets were installed including 75 disabled ones.  23 catering units were supplied and 18 water bowsers capable of containing 10,000 litres of water were provided.  More than 11km of pedestrian barriers were erected along the Long Walk and throughout the town which was in addition to the 5km plus of Heras fencing and the 4km of High Density Barrier.

All stewarding and infrastructure was delivered to contract and to time.  Nick Brooks-Ward and Madeleine Marston headed up the Operations team for the HPower Group.  Nick said; “We were very proud to be involved in this event.  Our contractors worked extremely well together and delivered above and beyond. We couldn’t have asked for more from them and are delighted that everything ran so smoothly.”
